This article describes how you, as supplier, can configure your company to create a transport order automatically when a new order comes available.
However you have to know, that using some default settings will by evidence not reflect the real, practical situation and increase the need for extra communication. Or even increase the risk that you pass wrong information to your carrier. And you will lose some insights on how your carrier is performing by decreasing your own actions.
Why does Streamliner offers this possibility:
if your company is fully automated by EDI to pass transport orders directly to your carrier or if your carriers are receiving instructions via other automated ways, it can be overhead to create the transport orders manually. please do NOT automate this step if you are not 100% sure that your carrier is informed by other means and that the information flow via Streamliner is just to enable workflow and NOT to pass the exact information to your carrier.
So remember: it's you who takes the risk, Streamliner can only automate.
How?
Step 1: go to the community where you need to set a default carrier.
Step 2: Go to the tab companies.
You can search your company in the search bar on the top left side. Click on your company.
Step 3: click on edit
Attention: only users with the role 'Primary Owner' or 'Company Owner' will have the possibility to Edit your company.
Step 4: Configure the next 4 fields before you can enable the switch
- Default carrier: This carrier will receive the transport order and the notifications
- Default pickup location: You can only configure one pickup location. In case you work with multiple locations, you cant' automate
- Offset pickup date: Every order contains a foreseen date. The date you customer expects that goods will be delivered. Streamliner calculates the earliest pickup date based upon the foreseen date minus the n° of days you configure in this offset
- Default pickup time: straight forward: a fixed pick up time
Once those 4 fields are configured, you can enable the creation of transport order.
and be sure to save your settings:
Good luck, but remember. This can decrease workload but you have to be aware of the risks.
