What do we mean with setting a loading sequence?
Setting a loading sequence allows carriers to inform warehouses of the order in which different packages should be loaded. This flexibility aids carriers in planning their delivery routes effectively. However, it's important to note that this feature is only accessible if warehouse managers permit it. The functionality is only available for the carrier roles, a free community role on Streamliner.
This article explains the process of setting a loading sequence. We assume you are already familiar with packages and shipments. The option to set a loading sequence becomes available when creating a shipment with multiple packages or when editing such a shipment. Multiple orderless packages within a single shipment are required to utilize this functionality optimally.
Carrier is allowed to set Loading Sequence (LS) when appropriate setting is enabled in zone and Carrier community-company settings. Also shipment should contain more than 1 package.
Step 1: Go to the ‘Packages’ tab
Upon accessing Streamliner, locate the 'Packages' tab at the top-center of the page.
Step 2: Add Package(s) to the basket
Click on the Package. In the details pane on the right, click on 'Add to Basket'. The item count in the basket will increase accordingly. Remember, setting a loading sequence necessitates multiple packages combined into one shipment.
Once you've added all packages, click on the yellow 'Shipment' button in the top right.
Next, click on ‘Book’ to book a slot.
Step 3: Define your desired loading sequence
Remember, the warehouse manager needs to enable this functionality for you. Ensure the warehouse manager has enabled this feature for you. It's provided free of charge but contingent upon warehouse support.
Toggle the 'LS' switch to activate the loading sequence setting. Use drag and drop to arrange the packages in the desired order for loading.
Step 4: Book a slot for your Shipment
Save your changes and book a slot for your shipment as usual. The loading sequence will be saved and conveyed to the warehouse.
Step 5: Consult your loading sequence
You can review the loading sequence by accessing the specific shipment and checking the order of packages in the detail pane.
Enjoy this valuable functionality, tailored specifically for carriers on Streamliner!
