Community refers to the network of companies involved in the shipping process. It can include different stakeholder roles: carriers, suppliers, receiver and principals. A strong community fosters collaboration, improves communication, and enhances the efficiency of transportation operations.
Primary owner is the role with the most extended user rights in the company. As a Primary Owner, you are the main administrator of the company account. The person who creates the company account automatically becomes the Primary Owner.
Stakeholder is any group with an interest or investment in the cargo transportation process. This can include customers, suppliers, carriers. Engaging stakeholders is critical for addressing concerns, meeting expectations, and ensuring the success of transportation initiatives.
Carrier is a company or individual responsible for transporting goods from one location to another.
Purchase order (PO) is a instructions issued by a buyer to a seller, indicating the type, quantities, Shipment location (zone), remarks, foreseen date. In Streamliner app, purchase order & order have the same meaning.
Order is a request made by a customer for the purchase of goods.
Package is an individual unit of cargo that is prepared for transportation, transport order, instructions.
Shipment means a slot reservation which refers to a specific quantity of goods that are transported from one location to another. It can include multiple packages and may be associated with a purchase order. Shipments can be domestic or international and may involve various modes of transportation. Managing shipments includes tracking their status, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating logistics.
Provisional shipment is a slot reservation made by Community Owner for a specified stakeholder in advance. The goal is to reserve resources so no one else could use them except the required company.
Resource is a time unit of labor defining the amount of work performed by one person for a slot. Sometimes it is convenient to evaluate the duration of a task by the number of required man-hours, which allows for easier assessment or adjustment of the number of workers and deadlines during planning. The man-hour is a unit of labor cost accounting and is widely used in scheduling work while considering the time required for completion.
Packaging unit is a standardized measure used to describe the quantity and type of goods. This can refer to how items are grouped together for shipping, such as individual boxes within a larger container or pallets stacked with multiple packages. Packaging units help streamline inventory management and shipping processes by providing clear guidelines for handling and transportation.
Pickup address is the specific location where the cargo is collected for transportation. It is essential for logistics planning, as it determines the starting point of the shipment. Accurate pickup addresses help ensure that goods are collected efficiently and arrive at their destination without delays.
Gate refers to the entrance or exit point of a facility, such as a shipping terminal, warehouse, or distribution center. Gates are crucial for controlling access to these areas, managing security, and facilitating the flow of vehicles and cargo. Proper gate management ensures efficient loading and unloading processes.
Issue is used on shipment level to mark any irregularities that are encountered during the loading or unloading process. Any stakeholder can add / remove an issue. The list of all possible issues is available to Community Owner and can be adjusted.
