What happens if you combine a transport order and a shipment on an order

1. The options for the Streamliner supplier to plan deliveries. 

Every supplier needs to plan his deliveries for the orders he receives in Streamliner. 

He can: 

• plan the shipments himself: the option ‘Book’ on the order basket

or

• Involve a carrier to plan the shipment: the option ‘Assign to carrier’ on the order basket

The third bullet will return into green (or red with a number in the bullet) when a supplier creates a shipment without involving a carrier

The second bullet will return into green (or red with a number in the bullet) when a supplier creates a transport order for a carrier. (or for himself) 

As soon as a carrier books a slot on a transport order assigned to him, the third bullet will also be triggered.

2. What is the problem if you try to combine these possibilities? 

If a supplier wants to create a transport order for a carrier on an order where he already created a shipment without involving a carrier, he receives following message:

3. Solutions: 

If a supplier wants to combine for the same order the combination to deliver himself and to deliver by carrier, he needs to use transport orders for the transport that he will organize himself. Means create a transport order where his own company is the carrier. You can without any issue combining multiple transport orders on the same order for multiple carrier

If a supplier created a shipment himself and this shipment can’t be deleted anymore, it’s not possible to create a transport order for the carrier. You will receive the message: “This order cannot be added to a transport order because it has already been booked in a shipment”

There are 2 workarounds.

1. Ask your customer to create a new order with almost same order number that you can use to create a transport order for your carrier. Ex. order ABC and ABC-dummy
2. Create a transport order for your carrier on another order and add to the comments of transport order and shipment that order 123 will be delivered. The dummy order that you use will stay open and you can safely use this reference to deliver other goods as long as you create a small comment to inform your customer.
