How can we effectively manage different company roles?
In the article, we delve into the various roles within a community. However, there are scenarios where a company may require multiple roles.
Consider a situation where your company acts both as a supplier and a carrier, providing transportation services not only for its own deliveries but also for other companies delivering goods to your customers. In such cases, your company needs to fulfill both supplier and carrier roles.
However, Streamliner currently only supports assigning one role per company within a community. Let's explore how to address this issue:
-
Company with its own VAT Number: If the department of your company providing transportation services is a separate legal entity with its own VAT number, there's no issue. Simply invite a colleague from that company as a carrier and have them create and maintain their own carrier account. If you've already added these colleagues as users within your company, delete those profiles to allow them to reuse the email address and access the community as carriers. You can then create packages for this carrier company just like any other carrier.
-
Same legal entity: If the department offering delivery services belongs to the same legal entity with the same VAT number, a workaround is required. Since Streamliner doesn't permit creating a new company with the same VAT number to maintain data structure and cleanliness, invite a colleague from the transportation department as a carrier. However, this colleague must create a company without a VAT number or with a VAT number from another company within your holding. Include specific information like 'Transportation Services' in the company name to differentiate it from the supplier role. Add the complete address in the address box, selecting a country outside the EU.
This workaround effectively provides your transportation department with its own company, enabling it to manage its own users and act as a carrier for other companies.
- Email Addresses: It's essential to consider email addresses. A user can only be associated with one company using their email address. If users require access to multiple companies, aliases must be utilized. Refer to our support center article on aliases if necessary.
It's likely that Streamliner will offer alternative solutions in the future as it continuously evolves based on user feedback. Until then, best of luck with this workaround.
